There's much more
to having a Web site than designing it and publishing it.
You want to draw people to your Web site, and one way to do
that is to ensure your Web site ranks high in the search
engines.
Ranking high in
the search engines is going to take time and work on your
part, especially if you're in a crowded niche. Rest assured,
however, there are plenty of ways to ensure your Web site
ranks high. For example, try the following:
Think quality,
not quantity.
You could conceivably have one million back links to your
Web site, but if they have absolutely nothing to do with
your Web site, you're not going to benefit. For example, if
you have a Web site focused on dogs, you don't want to have
back links from pizza or health Web sites. You do want back
links from Web sites focused on dogs.
Ask for a
reciprocal link.
Asking for reciprocal links can be time consuming, but it
could be well worth your effort. With reciprocal links, you
place the other Webmaster's link on your Web site, and he
puts your link on his Web site.
Create a list of
potential reciprocal links then write to the Webmasters of
the Web sites and ask for a reciprocal link. You may find
that some Webmasters have a required form that must be
filled out if you want to be considered for a link exchange.
Make the most of your signature line. If you're not already a regular on forums dedicated to your niche, find those forums and start posting helpful information on them. Never promote your Web site in your posts as most forums do not allow blatant advertising. However, add your link to your signature line.
Engage in article
marketing.
Write articles related to your niche, and submit them to
article directories. Take advantage of the bio box by adding
a description of your business, product, or service, and
include your Web site's URL.
Submit your Web site to free Web site
directories.
Find Web site
directories in your niche and submit your URL to them. You
may also want to submit your Web site to any directories
that are general in nature.
Comment on blogs.
Find blogs that
focus on your niche. Read a couple of the posts, and post a
comment. After your comment, you can generally write your
name and the URL to your Website.
