It seems like
just about everyone has a blog today: from network news
stations to average Joes. Those who want to share their
opinions, discuss the latest news, or promote a product or
service have all found that a blog is an ideal platform to
get their thoughts across to a large audience.
What was once an
internet craze has now become a bona fide way to make a
steady income month after month. There are, of course, some
obvious ways to make money with your blogging, like placing
Google Adsense and Cost
Per Click advertising on your blog.
But, there are
also more creative, and just as profitable, ways to make
money with your blog, including:
Blog
Flipping.
You've likely seen the shows on television where an investor
purchases a house, renovates it, and flips it, sometimes for
a phenomenal profit. Flipping blogs is similar. However,
rather than purchasing blogs, you can create a blog that is
rich in useful content then sell it to the highest bidder.
Find a sponsor.
Sponsorship is simply another form of advertising whereby
businesses pay money to place their advertisements on your
blog. For example, if you have a blog that discusses
starting and running a small business, you may get the Small
Business Administration or banks that offer loans to small
business owners to pay you to put their advertisements on
your blog.
Offer a digital product on your blog.
As a blogger you have a platform for pitching your own
digital products to your regular readers. Let's again say
you have a blog that's geared toward those who want to start
a small business. In addition to your regular content, you
might write an ebook on
creative ways to finance a startup small business and sell
it on your blog. Or, you could create an interactive online
course that you can sell to your readers.
Become an affiliate.
Affiliate programs are a popular way to make money. As an
affiliate you'll promote a product or products, and you
receive a commission (sometimes as high as 75 percent of the
purchase price) every time a person clicks on your affiliate
link and purchases a product. You can find products to
promote at Clickbank (www.clickbank.com),
Amazon (www.amazon.com),
and Commission Junction (www.cj.com).
Ask for donations.
Many places of business now place a tip jar on their counter
for customers who want to leave a tip. Create a virtual tip
jar on your blog as a way to make money, but make sure your
content is valuable enough to warrant tips.
Of course, these
are just a few of the ways top bloggers are turning what was
once considered a hobby into a viable business. Offer
readers of your blog something valuable, so your readers
will become customers and will return to your blog again and
again.
