Anyone who's
investigated ways to make money online has undoubtedly
discovered Google's popular
Adsense
program, which allows Webmasters to put ads on their Web
sites. The Webmasters then make money every time someone,
who clicks on their Adsense ad, makes a purchase.
Many Webmasters
and online entrepreneurs, who want to profit from their Web
sites in as many ways as possible, use Google Adsense to
earn some extra money. But, there's far more to Google
Adsense than simply creating an account with Google.
-
Follow
the rules.
Read Google's terms and conditions for Adsense to ensure
that you follow the rules to the letter. Failure to
follow the rules could result in you losing your
account.
-
Content
is king.
Content is essential to drawing
traffic to your
Web site. Unfortunately, there are a plethora of Web
sites online that are there simply so the Webmasters can
make money from the Adsense ads, and it shows. The
content is often barely readable and offers little value
to readers. If you want visitors to return to your site
often and to click on your Adsense ads, you must provide
them with valuable content.
-
Multi-page Web site.
Create a Web site with multiple pages, and make sure
each of those pages contains valuable content for your
readers. The more pages you have, the more Adsense ads
you can place. However, be sure you don't saturate each
page with ads.
-
Keep it
simple.
Avoid using such tactics as popup ads. Most people use
popup blockers, and those who don't use popup blockers
aren't likely to click on the popup ad. In addition,
only put ads on live pages. That means avoiding placing
ads on pages that pop up when there's an error.
-
Place
more than one ad per page.
Some internet marketing experts recommend having at
least three different ads on your Web page: one embedded
into the text; one on the side of your Web site, and one
on the top of the page.
-
Embed
ads.
Embed some of your ads in the text on your page, so
readers can easily click on the ad if they're
interested.
-
Stick
with text.
Rather than opting for a mix of text and graphic ads, or
just graphic ads, use only text Adsense ads. First,
they're easier to mesh on your Web site. Second, people
are more likely to click on text ads rather than graphic
ads.
-
Avoid
banner ads.
Banner ads are generally big, bulky, and unsightly.
Instead of using them, go with embedding the ads in your
text, and having small ads on the side and top of your
page that easily blend in with the page. The ads should
look as though they are part of the page, not like they
are advertisements.
-
Don't
use borders.
Keep it simple, and only use borders if they match with
the rest of your Web page. If the borders call attention
to themselves, eliminate them.
-
Test,
test, test.
Keep track of the results of your ads, and keep those
that are working well and change those that aren't.
Never become complacent and just allow your Web site,
and the Adsense ads on it, to remain as is. There's
always room for improvement.
